Taking Care of Your Inside Garden: Why Plant Goodness Matters
Posted by Mareya Ibrahim-Jones on
With Spring at bay, you can clearly see everything's growing outside, and it's a good time to think about what's growing inside us. Just like a garden needs care, our bodies need good stuff to stay healthy. Let's talk about why plant goodness (phytonutrients) is important.
What's Plant Goodness?
Plants have special things called phytonutrients. They give plants their colors and smells and turns out, they're really good for us!
They help:
-
Protect your cells: Like a tiny shield.
-
Keep things calm inside: Less "ouch" in your body.
-
Make you strong: Helps your body fight off bad stuff.
-
Keep your cells working well: Helps them do their job.
-
Clean your body: Gets rid of things you don't need.
How to Get Plant Goodness:
It's easy!
-
Eat colorful foods: Fruits and veggies of all colors.
-
Eat whole foods: Foods that aren't processed.
-
Use herbs and spices: They add flavor and good stuff.
-
Eat green veggies: They're full of plant goodness.

What Happens If You Don't Care for Your Inside Garden?
Just like a garden gets bad weeds if you don't take care of it, your body can feel bad too:
-
You'll feel tired: Not enough energy.
-
You'll get sick more: Your body won't be as strong.
-
Your body can get angry inside: More "ouch" feelings.
-
Your cells won't work right: They get weak.
-
You might feel sad or grumpy: Your brain needs good stuff too.
Keep Taking Care of Yourself:
Taking care of your body is something you do every day. Eat good foods, and you'll feel better.
This spring, eat more foods with plant goodness. It's like watering your inside garden. And make sure you sprinkle the good stuff in too!
